Baby bottle tooth decay or early childhood caries are caused by many factors. You can minimise your child's risk and help them grow healthy baby teeth.

1. Saliva

You might think your baby has all your germs but sharing spoons or cleaning their pacifier with your mouth might pass on cavity-causing bacteria to your baby.

2. Toothpaste

From the time your child's teeth come in until the age of 3 use a rice-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste and a soft brush on your child's teeth. From 3-6 use a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste.

3. Bottle

Only fill your babies bottle with milk, breast milk or formula. Juice and other sweet drinks feeds cavity-causing bacteria. Never let your baby sleep with a bottle.

4. Eating

Encourage healthy eating habits that minimise sugar intake.

Can margarita night cause dental problems? Alcohol causes dehydration which can cause or worsen dry mouth. Reduced saliva could lead to tooth decay. Everyone need's to have fun though so this weekend try swishing water around your mouth in-between drinks to rinse the sugars and acids. A bonus is that it'll keep you hydrated and feeling a little better the next morning. Have a happy and safe weekend!

It’s collection week for Operation Christmas Child! We love participating in this amazing campaign. It’s a hands on way for Canadians to help spread joy to children in developing countries. We can’t wait to help sort boxes again this year!

INVISALIGN

Invisalign invisibly straightens your teeth with a series of custom-molded aligners.

That's right: orthodontics that give you the smile you always wanted without bands, brackets or wires.

By using a series of clear removable aligners, Invisalign straightens your teeth right before your eyes. Change them about every 2 weeks, your teeth will move—little by little, week by week—until they have moved to their final position. Comfortable to wear, our aligners are also removable so you can eat, drink, brush, and floss as usual.

DIGITALLY-GUIDED DENTAL IMPLANTS

Dental implants are artificial roots, placed below the gums, that we can attach crowns to in order to replace missing teeth. We can virtually place an implant in your jaw using our 3D scan in order to position it well away from adjacent tooth roots or nerves, and then have a guide fabricated that helps to place the implant in your mouth in the exact same way that we planned it.  This pre-planning can help the procedure more predictable. After your bone integrates and “locks” into the implant for a few months, you would be ready for the crown or replacement tooth to be attached! Dental implants have the advantage of being conservative - the two adjacent teeth don’t need to be shaved down like they would with a bridge. Give us a call at 403-984-9759 to set up an appointment to see if you are a candidate!

BOTOX TREATMENT

Botox acts to reduce the movement of muscles that can wrinkles.  The result is more youthful, smoother appearing skin. Results can last for up to 4 months.

Did you know it can also be used to manage patients with bruxism?  Yes, Botox relaxes the muscles that are active in tooth grinding, thereby stopping or reducing the the bruxism.  This helps protect the teeth from strong grinding forces and reduces muscle pain associated with grinding.
